93 Runs Rough Under Load

My first truck, Dad helped me find bought a 93 ctd le, we shipped it to Hawaii. Hard to get a good used work truck here. I picked it up from the dock and in 30 secs it ran out of fuel because the shipping company drained it. Added fuel, cracked the injectors and keyed until I saw fuel, turned off, tightened injectors, great at idle, but under a load the motor shakes as if there is a fuel issue. Still makes speed but there is obviously a fuel issue. I don't know if I did the right procedure. Could be water in fuel, air, ??? Last owner just replaced pump and injectors. Any suggestions on proper procedure or where I should look for tech help greatly appreciated. Justin

It was shipped with an empty fuel tank over an ocean under high humidity conditions - a perfect place for alge growth. I would first try changing the fuel filter. Pay close attention to what you see if you see slime that is pluging it up change - heck I would change it anyway. I would add a biocide to kill the growth in the tank. Hopefully this is all you will need to do - if that.

Yup, that's about got it covered....it's amazing that they will run at all with air in the high pressure lines, but they will. Bleed them one at a time at idle for 10-15 seconds a piece..jsut be sure to wear protective eye gear at a minimum--that high pressure can cut skin. Swap the fuel filter just to be safe. Keep us posted. Oh, and WELCOME to DTR!!! Glad to have you aboard!
