93 problems

My 93 Dodge will not turn off. when I shut the key off the engine drops a few rpms but does not turn all the way off. I have to put it in gear (auto) and bump the throttle to get it to die. any ideas guys?

sounds alot like a bad engine stop solenoid. Diesel engines won't run without a fuel source, this solenoid turns fuel off and on inside the pump.

Yep, you either spend the big dollars for a new solenoid, or join the cable shut-off club by installing a manual choke cable to the shut off lever on the VE pump.

Oh ya, It's your shut-off solenoid all right. have you done any pump mod's lately. you can spend the money in one of two way's. buy the shut-off cable now, or buy a new solenoid and then buy the cable in a couple of day's anyhow. welcome to the club.

Unknown to most there is a extra lever on the VE pump, there is pretty much nothing hooked to it. Moving it to it's stop shuts off the engine.

Hey Dodgeman, long time no see. Yep they are right, If you have pump mods than you will keep replacing solenoids. I would say a shut down pull cable will be your best hope. Piers sold me a solenoid but didnt cut it. Dont be a stranger

Yeah its been a while. I have been spending a lot of time on my 94 Dodge this year. got many new goodies like a o-ringed and ported head along with a 215 pump My 93 also has a problem with the right turn signal. the indicator light blinks bright once and then stays on very dim. This is the first problems I have ever had with the truck and its getting ready for the big 200k mark.

Check both front and rear bulbs. I have seen where a filiment will break and crossover to running light circuit and cause that problem. If both front and rear turnsignal bulbs are OK than I will have to rethink
Cool on the head O-ring, I am porting and polishing my own head right now. I need to find someone to oring it. I dont want to pay $300 for shipping when I may get it done localy for $300
