Yep, thats the one. You really should have a pyro, but before I got mine I had my smoke screw in 1.5 turns and the AFC set to the deepest part. I would say it probably wont hurt, although different trucks are different, but its really up to you. If you are just doing it to get a little smoke and you dont keep your foot in it for very long it should work.

For now it is just going to be for a lil smoke but come winter we will be plowin with her, so the pedal is going to be on the floor more offen then not. dodgeram.org says that 2 turns will bring me up 75. I was hopin it would would help my startin problem. Do you notice more smoke on start up then there should be?

It won't change how the truck starts. There is a spring in the governor lever assembly called the start spring. This spring tries to push the fuel control collar all the way to the full fuel position. At cranking RPM, the governor does not push hard enough against the start spring to overcome the spring, so the truck gets full fuel while cranking. That's why 1st gens put out that little black puff on startup. As soon as the engine starts, the governor compresses the start spring and the idle spring takes over fuel control.

Don't mess with the smoke screw or the AFC cone if you don't have a pyro. The added low RPM/no boost fuel can really get things toasty, especially with a big turbine housing. And since you plow there will be plenty of low rpm/heavy load operation. Guys who use these trucks for toys (me) can get away with a lot of stuff that would kill a working truck.

I dont think it will help on start up. It will give a little more fuel if you put your foot in the pedal, but if it doesnt start without pushing the pedal now, it still wont. I would recommend a pyro in your case, then you can start playing with the REALLY fun screws!
