3200 spring

are there any down sides to the 3200 spring. making the motor spin faster kind of makes me nervous. but i know a lot of people do it. but i guess one of our tractors will 3200 all day long i have done it. so i guess i just want to know if there are any flaws the the 3200 spring.

nope no probs. When you goto a 4k spring, then youll need some additional heavier valve springs, but 3200k is fine.

3200 Spring

According to Cummins the redline is at least 1,000 RPM's above 3,200RPM, and I suspect it's more like 5,000 RPM, so you are not going to hurt the engine at all, and once you have it on the smile won't leave your face for quite some time!

I think that's more of a "turned the pump up a lot" problem. If high RPM was the culprit old VW's would eat those things like candy.

If you can find a pump shop near you, that is the cheapest place to get the spring. PDR sells them too.

The 3200 RPM spring really transforms the truck. It puts you much more in control of the fuel. It's the difference between driving with your foot and driving with your big toe.

I bought mine last week from Industrial Diesel in Norfolk VA for $ 12.74 plus sales tax. The Bosche part number is 1-464-650-366. This is for the VE pump. Their phone number is 757-857-5391. Ask for Jay. It's a real kick in the pants

So as long as you "take it easy" there is no danger of harming the engine in any way?

Is the installation difficult? (I'm not exactly sure where the spring is but I have a pretty good idea.)

Yeah, you don't HAVE to use the extra RPM. Mine stays below 2500 most of the time, maybe a couple times a week I'll run 'er up to 3k. The stock valvesprings are OK to 32-3400. If you have an old non-intercooled automatic and you want to use the extra RPM on the highway, the HD valvesprings would be a good idea.

It's not so much difficult as it is nerve-wracking and time consuming. You really ought to have an extra set of hands for the actual R&R of the governor spring, but most of it is OK by yourself. Expect it to take a couple hours at least.
