93 problems

I have a buddy with a 93 Dodge 1ton. his truck runs great and then all of a sudden it will lose power and RPM's it gets really quiet and you can barley hear the truck running. if you just mash the throttle it will come back alive like nothing happend. there is no speed or reason for it, it does it when ever it wants. any ideas guys? thanks

I would check the fuel transfer pump pressure first, if it is OK when the failure occurs than I would be thinking about the injection pump. It may be as simple as a problem with the shutdown solenoid.
By the way, where have you been Dodgeman

Good luck

When my shutdown solenoid was not getting sufficient current, that is what my truck did. Check the connections first, and see what the battery/charging condition is like. A wonky voltage regulator and a bad battery could theoretically give you the same troubles I suppose. Mine was just the connection though.

Let's hope it's just that. We all know what injector pumps cost.

Good luck with it.

Thats what I thought. I played around with the wires today one was loose so I fixed it that seemed to help out a lot but it still does it. The truck have 300K on the engine and 500k on the truck so no telling what has gone wrong.
