93 cummins auto to manual questions

Hey guys i have a 93 cummins, tranny just **** canned again (about the 3rd one) Its a suncoast pos and the front clutch pack is smoked.Needless to say i am tired of dumping money into the worthless hunk of metal im lucky to get 3000 miles out of. So now im debating on switching it over to 5 speed. I have a couple of questions.First off what all will this involve parts wise and mods? Has anyone done this with any sucess and are you pleased with it? Which is better getrag or nv4500? Also Price range to accomplish this?

Any info is greatly appreciated.Thanks

finding a wrecked doner truck is the best... aside from that, you need the clutch and brake pedal assembly out of the manual truck along with a slave cylinder set up, bell housing, clutch & throughout bearing, if its 4x4 you may run into a t-case mounting issue and possibly drive shaft lengths, but not positive im sure someone else can answer that one.

Search "getrag or nv4500 swap"

I've been on here for a year and i've probably seen 50+ threads on this, they just need digging up.

Anyways you basicly need a donor truck or a guy that wants an auto and has a 5 speed.

The transfercases between auto and 5 speed are different becuase of differnt spline counts.

You'll need -
the bellhousing
pedals
slave cylinder/hydraulic stuff
transfer case
driveshaft

As said above, a donor truck is the most financially efficient way to go. I have priced all new parts to do a NV4500 swap and it adds up to $6,500.- in parts. Add to this some "outsourced" work, such as driveline length (and front in the case of 4 wheel drive), possibly trans mount if you can't find some, and the list could go on. There are a few outfits which offer fairly comprehensive kits for $4500.- but there will always be some extras. The worst way to go in my opinion is to get part by part from eBay, craigslist, junkyards, etc.: the reason is that you'll be missing parts here and there. Example: a flywheel housing may be purchased bare at a great price, but when you add the little cover w/ 2 screws, the gaskets, the bolts and washers, etc. you've spent another $120.-
So, a donor truck that you can pilfer from rear crankshaft seal to driveshaft covers your bases and can be purchased at a fraction. Getrag G360 or NV4500 is another choice to make: G360 pretty much bolts up to your 93, NV4500 has to be adapted, but it is very feasible.
As mentioned above, check past posts about auto to manual swaps or conversions, G360 vs. NV4500, and you should find lots of info.
Good luck!

Not to pick on Brandon in particular, but I hate replies like this. When the OP goes to search for "Getrag swap" he will wind up with a page full of threads with posts telling other people to search for "Getrag swap". Telling people to do a search on something actually makes it HARDER to find the information. It's not helpful at all, don't do it! Since YOU know what to search for, why not take the 30 seconds to do the search and give the poor guy a couple links?

OK, I feel better now that I've vented.

Since the auto trans and the 5 sp. are different spline counts does anyone make a coupler for this change over? Hmmm maybe i'm asking something i'm not sure of because I haven't had the trans/transfer apart, "is there a replaceable coupler between the two? And does anyone make an adapter coupler for the different splines on autos and 5 spds.?
