'92 CTD fuel heater leaking need help!
On a real tough one I had to deal with, I took a hex-shank cold-chisel, ground the end to fit the slots, slid a box-end wrench over the chisel shank, and it screwed out easily.
That chisel will forever remain my filter-stud removal wrench.
The stud we are talking about is the hollow shaft that the fuel-filter threads onto; and, YES, it is slotted like a big hollow screw.
I used a wood type drill bit that is flat across with a pointed tip in the center. It had a hex on the drill end and I put a 1/4 inch socket on that end.
I had a Mopar Mech. tell me he just used a waterpump pliars to grab it and screw it out---quick and dirty. I didn't want to fudge up the threads on mine.
