89-93 Dodge
Ok, so the 89-93 Dodge has the Cummins I6. Thats 160 HP and a very impressive 400 Ft Lbs of torque. Without doing an engine swap for a 12 valve or 24 valve Cummins and keeping the same engine, how do I get more horsepower and keep the same torque?

The 89~93 Cummins is a 12 valve just like the later 2nd gens. The injection pump is the major difference.
Most who increase the horsepower also see an increase in torque. There's not really a way around that.
How fast do you want to go? What do you intend to do with the truck? Work? Race?

Torque@RPM=HP
The more torque over the RPM band (not getting into power band debates) is more HP. If you look at gas engines, torque usually comes in sooner the HP. They have more of a RPM band to make up for the loss HP in the lower RPM's.

Read the "Sticky" at the top of the 1st gen board
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...t-t102027.html
Scroll down to "performance"
Turning up the pump is a good place to start, then air flow mods, then injectors, then turbo, then headwork/stud head after you blow the head gasket.
Oh and somewhere in the early stages in there, you'll need a better torque converer if you have an auto or a good clutch if you have a 5spd. you'll slip the stock one

One of the easiest things for a little extra acceleration is to turn the fuel pin cone around so the deeper side is facing forward. And then just adjust the pump like it shows in the sticky.

I drive an '02 model and I'm used to my 235HP, the added torque will be great though. I did figure that anything I do will probably add more torque as well which is fine.

I like mine where it is. Once I get to 35 it's shifted into drive, roll into it and away I go. Even with less horse I think these have a weight advantage that makes up for a good part of the lower power.
