727 guts in A518?

i have a good 727 2wd and i know someone who has a shot 2wd A518.
can i put the 727 guts in the A518?
where can i find a 4x4 adapter for the A518?

thinking of getting the 518 to bolt to a cummins i have and putting that in a 4x4 F350 we have, the ford needs the front body changed and the e4od rebuilt for a thrid time so i was thinking when thr nose is off just putting in the cummins and A518 if i can use the guts out of the 727.

if do-able whats a good place to get an efficient tq for a good price?

Built correctly, The E4OD is a superior trans to the A518 non lock up. Go to Destroke.com and get the adapter, and controller. Then go here for the rebuild parts for the E4> http://www.eatmyshifts.com/eatmyshifts_combo.htm

i was looking into the cheap way, converter in the a518 and shift kit bolt the ford t case to it and go, it won't get heavy fueling mods, gsk and 16cm housing and maybe a intercooler.

but i stll need to know it the guts are the same also i have an extra over drive for an a518.

As long as your speaking of diesel 727 trans vs. diesel 518 trans, I would bet for the most part they are the same. Many say a 518 is a 727 with overdrive. But if you're talking gasser trannies, forget it, not the same guts.
