6speed in and driving (pics)
Drove it around some yesterday, probably gonna pull it back out, 2nd gear synchros are totally gone. I just hope the tranny is new enough that the upgrade synchros are available, this is 2002 or 2003 5600, early ones you can't get the better synchros for last time I checked. The guy I bought the tranny from told me it had one of the gears grinding, I figured it was 3rd or 4th that they are notorious for. This hole in floor was done by PO, the getrag could on occasion go into 2 gears at once so he torched hole in floor to get the top cover off. I would have had to work on it anyway, the 5600 shifter is about 5" farther back than the getrag.

here is shot of bracket and drive pulley that was on the motor, think I'll look around for some kind of onboard air pump, the hard part of the job is done.

Here's one of Rips 4" downpipes, I talked to haisley machine and they told me about the chance of losing the probe and taking out the turbo. I think I'll buy another gauge and mount ahead of the turbo, run both awhile for comparison temps and then pipe plug the one in the ex manifold.

you can see how tight the clearance is with 1st gen 4x4 4" exhaust, no way 5" would ever fit.

Here is bottom pic of T/C shifter mount bracket. I used the qualifying ears on the side of the tranny case to bolt a piece of cut down angle iron to and then welded the top plate I made that the shifter bolts to to the angle iron. Also shows the old tranny crossmember holes and extra piece of exhaust to match the longer trans. Drilling the knee brace holes in the top part of frame rail was probably biggest pain the butt of the whole operation.

I took a piece of 1/4" plate, drilled the holes for the insulator, bolted it on the tranny, then scribed the holes in the getrag crossmember and bolted the plate to it. It's the 6 speed insulator and upper bracket.

Pic of second generation hydraulic line and slave cylinder. Also newer style starter you have to use
http://www.pbase.com/txs/image/43707191
Here's closer look at the starter, I heated the upper frame rail edge up and bend it up just a tad, was awfully close. You can see the spacer between the bell and the starter that needs to be used to run the full 13" clutch flywheel. The starter ring on the flywheel is towards the front instead of at the back of the flywheel like the 12 1/4" clutch.

Lastly, this is just pic of drivers side floorboard, truck is as rough as a cob but no rust.

I like it a lot, I've got to get my pyro and boost gauges mounted and now I think I want a tach also. I'm thinking about going to haisley machine tomorrow and see what they have for tach pickup, don't think I can wire to the distributor! Definitely want a 3200rpm gov spring and will see if there are 14cm housings that will hook up to my exhaust. I also want to tear the front timing cover off and check the kdp and locktight the rear half of the cover bolts. I bought it to tow with, so I may convert to dually rear and bed, but first I want to get the other stuff sorted out.
