6 hole injectors?

How you all doing, I just recently started looking into injectors again. And now im hearing that 6 hole injectors are not good. The person told me the get an uneven flow from the way the the fuel exits the injector nozzals. Now is that right? I've personally havnt looked into injectors for problly 2 years since I got the pods in. But if that's the case what's better 7 hole or 5?
thanks jon

from all my reading it seems 155 spray nozzles are better for competition, regardless of bowl size. 145* for street for better economy on a standard bowl piston. 7 hole is better for the street with more holes providing better for atomization. 5 hole is better for competition because the bigger holes provide a thicker stream of fuel that gets better penetration in higher boost applications.

The kicker is almost all 7 hole nozzles are made by denso and are 158* spray angle and 5 hole can be bought in either 155 or 145.

That said, there are geuine bosch 7 hole nozzles that have been found that are 148* spray angle but they are more expensive. Also, if a 7 hole injector is honed via EDM the spray angle can be corrected in the process, but not entirely. I bought 7x.014 denso nozzles and from what I've been told, with that amount of honing, I will only see a correction of maybe 5*. Now, of course I didn't know that when I ordered them, because if I had I either would have gone with 145* 5 hole or forked the cash for the bosch 148* 7 hole and had them honed.

also, 6 hole injectors are only really popular among first genners. I haven't figured out why as like you, I have read they aren't the best/they have issues. All I do know though, is those that are running them make good power and I've only read one person having issues so who knows.

I`m in the same boat with the 158deg denso`s, they run nice but are not optimal...wish I`d have known as well when I got them. 6holes from my understanding ina VCO application suffer from what the injector guys call "needle steer" where the pressure of the injection event causes the pintle to move off center ever so slightly which is`nt good for atomization or injector wear. SAC nozzles do not suffer from this problem.

If money is no issue, get some 7 hole bosch nozzles honed to like a 7x.012 or something. I bet they'd be a real nice injector. I can't imagine them being too expensive, I just know they cost more than the denso nozzles though. Call SDX and be clear you want the bosch nozzles with the 148* spray angle.

I have 5x16s in my truck right now and they are perfectly clear, even with lower compression. The DDP4's hazed and were much more smokey, and slowed almost 45% LESS fuel. I'm willing to bet the DDP4's I ended up with are just POD's that I over paid for. Same hole size and number as POD's. I was personaly going to stay away from Dynomite Diesel after those injectors, but the 5x16s on loan right now are 100x better!!!

Stomp made over 600whp with them I believe, so the flow and atomization are spot on.

I run some 6 x 0.016" EDMs I got from Scheid a while back. Unless I'm mistaken, they are VCO nozzles.

They do OK in my mess though I have gone through great pains to get the bottom smoke cleaned up. They haze a noticeable amount though not too bad while a full engine operating temp.
As of late, with things turned up as they are, an HT3B under an S362/14, big IC, 181/210 cam, ported head, I see about 1300*F EGTs at the top of an 8th mile pass at the track.
I get pretty decent fuel mileage driving like NCHP Officer Jack Thorpe was behind me.
