what are some upgrades for the 518? valve bodies? lock up tc? or is a trans upgrade more worth the money?

 

just about anything that can be done to the 47rh618 can be done to the 46rh518. 5 or 6 pinion steel planets, better bands,better clutches,valve body kits, billet shafts,better servo pistons,better converters just no lock up, I put a 47rh in my truck would I do it again NO the added cost is just not worth it. drive lines shorten or made longer,. new starter,find a motor plate,do the rear cross member 4x4 is eazer than the 2wd truck, move the shaft linkage mount on the frame,find a 47rh core I got mine for free but there are $200-$750 if you can find one ken

 

Kind of a different question, can I bolt my 518 from my 92 to a cummins from a 94?

 

yes you can but you still would need the motor plate, starter,toque converter, for the 518
