518?-46rh?-47rh?
Who can tell me what the difference is? I just ordered a new trans filter and gasket for mine. Had to give the dealer the last nine digits of the serial #. He says I have the 518 trans and then as he looks for the filter, the parts manual says I definately have a 46RH. And when we looked farther, The 727 trans for the gas motor lists the exact same part# for filter and gasket.
I know it's not a 727, but what is the difference between a 518 and 46/47RH?
My FSM doesn't even show the differences.
Dealer says:
and now there is an upgrade for the kit. Cork gaskets are n/a and the new kits must be ordered with new bolts. $11.00 for the gasket
$ 5.00 for the filter
$ .60/each bolt X 14 bolts
After-market supplier has complete kit for 999/518/46RH/47RH for $9.01
And I'm using TRANSYN fluid.

Most likely an A518. But I believe they all have the same gaskets and filters. I know Napa's filter set come with 2 or 3 different gaskets depending on your tranny, and just one filter.

Should be the 518 like Tuckerdee said. Usually the box contents are the same as a 727/904 kit. 2 gaskets (one 727, one 904) and the filter. Basically the same shape except the 727 and 518 gasket has a kicked out section in it. Usually cheap around $12-17

The new gasket from Mopar is a really nice rubber/steel insert reusable piece. The new bolts are required due to thickness. I have had mine off twice and reused it with no leaks.

1st generation ctd O/D autos are 518s, for the 94 MY they became 618s, extra metal was added to the case for the second anchor pin for the double wrap L&R band and reinforcment ribs to the outside of the case around the reverse servo. Unfortunately about that time the lets be like GM kick started and the trucks became 1500, 2500 and 3500 instead of 150 250 and 350. The tranny names were changed from 518 and 618 to 46rh and 47rh.
