4x4 engaged light not workin

4x4 engaged light not workin

My 4wd light has stopped, but its got power on the one side of the bulb socket, but nothing happening. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem or where to look for it ?

If the bulb itself is good, the 4x4 engages, then the problem stems from I believe the 2 wire sensor that sits on top of the transfer case. It is the 4x4 transfer case switch, Mopar part # 04210979. Mine did the same, and after checking everything like you did, that was the fix. I bought straight from the dealer because local NAPA could not get me the correct sensor. They kept giving me the speedo sensor. Good luck.

Thanks Bigragu I actually grounded the oppposite wire that had no power and the light come on but stayed on while the truck was in 4wd till i shut the key off. I will check that switch.. and keep ya posted.

I am voting for the switch too. Mine comes on and off as it pleases in 4WD. I removed it and tried to clean the gunk out of it and it did work better for awhile.

Roughly what does the switch cost?

The switch was pricey- I want to say around 40 bucks from the dealer.

In my 2nd gen. My light dont work either but i know when its in 4wd and when its not. So i will keep my $40.
