Bad Noise when 4x4 engaged

Bad Noise when 4x4 engaged

Metal to metal sound, pretty rough. Sounds like it is located right under driver side. Front wheels still dig but the sound get worst with increased throttle.

Any ideas before I head to the shop ??

When was the last time you changed the transfer case oil or lubed the cardan joint?

Auto Trans, had it serviced day before noise started.

hub, bad axle ujoint, jackup front end and hand spin the tires listen for where sound is coming from.

Could still be the transfer case. What did the Auto service entail.
