EDITHere's a pic of Cowboy Custom 4" down pipe......not shore if it the same source as a bove but i remeber he said that when he called them that had the adapter in stock to reduce it the the 3"coming out of the turbo!

I just learned of this site: http://www.dieselpro.net/product.html?pcfid=45. According to the site it is a full 4" turbo back kit. Nice price too.
Wow that site looks like it has a real nice setup for a good price IMO. Plus it includes your choice of 5.5" or 6" tip. I think I might spring for this system after I get my sled deck

It probably won't work on the auto transmission, but after looking my truck over again, I think that the 2nd gen turbo elbow and 2nd gen 4" down-pipe is the way to go. (Especially since I am thinking about an exhaust brake . . .) Smoother line, and plenty of room for 4". Steam Dave has this set-up on his truck. If you are worried about the turbo outlet restriction, wrap it with insulation to keep the temps and flow up.
Does anyone know if changing from the 3 inch to the 4 inch exhaust changes how much hold back, down a hill there is? Am thinking of doing stainless steel exhaust with minimul bends and building my own muffler. Does this also change much how much power output there is? Also with bigger exhaust can one change to bigger injectors for a bit more torque? Not into high horse power but just a bit better bottom end and so on. Need to do exhaust soon.
Bigger exhaust means lower exhaust gas temperature, which means you can inject more fuel without melting a piston. (Injecting more fuel doesn't exactly equal bigger injectors; you can achieve much the same results with injection pump tweaks.) Unless you inject more fuel, you won't see any more power. (Well, you won't really feel any more power...)
I don't know if it would affect down-hill hold back. I wouldn't think that it would do it much; I know there's a little bit of valve overlap, but I'd bet the turbo provides enough backpressure that the bigger exhaust won't really affect compression braking.

I beleve that going from a muffled 3" to a 4"straight pipe would cause the eng to not hold back on hills as well.....to a small degree, but that is, after all, the consept of a ex. brake, is to restict flow.
But the turbocharger is so much backpressure as it is, I would seriously doubt you'd feel a difference.
The turbo up grade wound up being a HTT stage 4 using the existing exhaust housing. So, I guess the 4 inch down pipe became a mute point. Especially since I am running that school bus muffler. I didn't notice any real difference with it and straight pipe until I did the upgrade. Now I somewhat regret putting the muffler on the truck. I am not getting the same numbers as everyone else, and the only big difference seems to be that. Still it is a lot quieter and the neighbors don't hide as much when I start it in the morning. The turbo really shreaks so I am looking for a cheap stock pot to make a filter housing. Besides the cold air will do the engine some good too.
