24V manifold will fit but the ports are oval and would need to be port matched with a bit of grinding work. I was just going to do this since I had a 24V manifold and was doing the exhaust manifold gaskets but turned out my 24V manifold was cracked.

I love porting cylinder heads. I was doing a slant 6 for my buddy's van. I tried to open up the exhaust outlet on the manifold. I gave up. It was a whole lot different than the head. Really hard stuff!

so it looks like most turbo upgrades for our irst gens is the hx35, would ya all agree that for towing, not racing and hiway travell it is about the best way to go?

A HX-35 upgrade is a great upgrade for a 1st gen.
It will work well for towing, as long as you do not crank the fuel up to much. Things like really big injectors, might make it run too hot

I put 4" stainless exhaust on Patches last year and I noticed at least a 100* drop on my EGT's when just driving around town, and at least that when pulling.

I have bigger injectors and an Hx35. EGTs can certainly get hot with a heavier load, but I also don't need to have my foot into it that far... and there's more than one gear to drive in.

If you are getting hot quickly like that it is likely heat coming from your auto transmission.

yes i know they can sure add some heat to things, but i have an upgraded torque, which helps a little, big aux cooler, and i do run a gauge, the gauge shows it doesnt get that hot in trans fluid. so i feel maybe in this case the rad is not quite up to par. quess i expect sometimes too much out of these old trucks

Maybe your rad is choked or your thermostat is acting up. Is your clutch fan working? Shroud in place? Fins in the rad and condenser jammed with bugs and pine needles?

All good questions.

I have never had any of my Cummins trucks run hot, but they have all been manual shifted trucks.
