yes i have heard the standard is more forgiving, been a while but if memory serves me rite trans temp tops mite see just over 190. but it takes quite a bit to get it there. i already have the 2nd gen intercooler so am not going to mess with any of the old stuff. at least that is the plan

Check to make sure your lower radiator hose still has the spring. If not it could be collapsing under load and cutting off the flow of coolant. If some fool has run pure water or old coolant the radiator couls be plugged with sediment.
Last year when I pulled my 5th wheel from CA to OK the water temp gauge pegged but it kept going. That could have been because I have 100% antifreeze instead of 50-50. My heater doesn't work well at all I think because of that.

i am hearing mention of the hybrid turbos working very good. power gain and heat reduction. just what is used in the hybrid setup i understand there is machining involved for a different wheel? can anyone fill me in on this? is it an Hy modified or the 351?

I normally hear about HX40 and hybrid in the same breath. Dunno if there's a junkyard combination to make the hybrid, or it's an aftermarket concoction. It's not a stock used $100-400 turbo regardless.

i heard it from a very reliable source, he works on dodges in his shop all the time for many years now, apparently about $1000? but he explained it to me but i am a slow learner. haha. sounds like it works very well.

I hear the HE351cw is also very good. Often $400-500ish used.
