4 cylinder cummins
4 cylinder cummins
Well I'm looking into the idea of a 4 cylinder cummins in my 79 ford so I wont have to do as much of suspension modifacation. But I dont know what or where i would find one. What year and kind of a truck would i find one? And where would be a good place to find one?
You mean like this?

Aside from ebay, the most common place to find them is in box vans like potato chip trucks. Quite often they'll be hooked to a TH400 automatic transmission.
You might also check http://fordcummins.com/ or http://www.cummins-conversion.com/ to get ideas.
Good luck.

12 Valve is right. My friend picked up a Frito-lay van and drove it home for $800.
I cant seem to get him to part with that engine.
It has the same type of injection pump as our first gens. I went to his house one night last winter and cranked up his injection pump
we went for a ride and got the tires to bark on pavement and made the manifold glow.
You can make them run strong.
Good luck

Where I worked this summer, we were next to a big rig repair shop and they had 2 4 cylinder cummins come in for a total rebuild. Apparently they use them for water pumps etc. From what the one mechanic said, the 4 cylinder is exactly the same as our 5.9l 6's with 2 less cylinders. They had the exact same (looked the same) VE pump only with 4 fuel lines.
There was one sold ebay some time back in a military M715 pickup that claimed 32 MPG at 55 MPH. Here's his web page. http://homepage.mac.com/ltalessi/Personal87.html
