3200 spring questions

I'll be installing dads spring on easter weekend and have read the sticky question is, is the throttle shaft still on the pump assy. or is it on the top and is removed also. it talks about a lever that you have to click back into place what is it for and which way do you move it. is it easier to assemble with the power screw removed. also when i turned his power screw in i turned it 2 turns and it seems to idle alittle high, i tried to turn it down but it wouldn't come down. so is there anything i can do with the indexing if so which way and how do i do it. i know i could figure it out when i dig into it but would rather have an idea as to what i'm doing so i don't mess this up for him.

The throttle shaft stays in the pump top.

I find it easier to do the job with the power screw removed, then you do not have to worry about the governor lever.

Is the throttle lever touching the idle screw? Often you have to lengthen the throttle rod to let the lever down far enough to touch the screw.

While you have the idle screw out, cut about 3/8" off it. Makes getting a screwdriver on it much easier.

It's hard to use a screwdriver if you cut off the slotted end.

Lengthen that throttle rod and it will idle.

Governor lever. If you pull the fuel screw you don't need to worry about it.

Dave, what do you think about weding a little 1/6" piece of rod on the fuel screw to make adjustments easier? I have a heck of the time on my truck getting anything back there to turn it.. I was thinking a little T on it would be easy to spin by hand..

I use a 6mm socket on a 1/4" drive ratchet.

Take the idle screw out while you have the pump top off.

Then reverse it so the slotted end faces the front (radiator).

Now when you want to adjust it, you can get at it from the front. Hold the throttle lever out of the way with the engine off and it's so easy to turn.

When I had mine the other way, I actually took a heavy piece of fence bracing wire, flattened the end on an anvil. Ground it flat, now you have a small flexible screwdriver.
