I agree with Bill...check your FSS. if your not getting a good, strong injection pulse you have a fuel delivery issue.

I did a poor man's seal on my pump (didn't dig into whole pump), also wouldn't start afterwards.

I *thought* the throttle was indexed correctly, it was not. I think it was a few notches off.

Someone here (or maybe at 1stgen.org) said start turning the fuel screw in until she tries to start, just be careful (runaway). I knew I was close when I could get her to run with some throttle peddle.

Good luck!

James

Nope your not checking the manual shut down lever...you need to check the FSS (Facotry Shut down solenoid) This is the round-ish brass unit that mounts at the top, back of the IP , near where the main injecotr lines hook up.

here it is circled in red...

The manual shut off doesn't have much travel but it is possible you have it turned to the off position

well...found the problem. The lever the fuel screw rides against got bent during re assembly. The screw slide past the lever and was bending it. Bent it back put it back together and fired right up. Drove it around and everything is good.

You're lucky that lever didn't break! That's a costly repair.

Did you keep the fuel screw OUT when putting the top back on?

In that situation, the repair would be a lot easier if the pump were on a stand.

Hopefully bending that small tab back into place didn't weaken the metal. Glad to hear you figured it out and got it back on the road.
