Unhappy 3200 rpm spring install gone to heck

Got the box bout 4 indiana time so i went out and started dismantleing. Dens instructions were great. got the spring hooked back up. I sent my dumbass lil brother to get some string the get the top back on, so the lil retard comes back with kite string. even tho i said to get a strong string like a shoe string. i told him to hold the pump top. i come back a min later the retard is organizing tools the pump top is on the finder and the spring and lil pin thing is dangling from the pump. Now im ****** off i call a friend whos goin to diesel mechanic school. he comes over we get everything put back together i think we are gettin read to put the rest of the throtle together. hes tryin to get the one spring under the hex screw on when i hear a snap the end broke off so i say lets call it a day and ill get a new spring tomorrow. Next i notice the spring that connects the throtle cable to the pump is mia.

SO todays lesson never try to do anything with your lil brother, also never let a lincoln tech grad help, and third NEVER EVER EVER EVER try and install another gov spring.

So anyone in indiana wanna help a brother out??? I can pay for gas.

What would I do with gas? lol Sorry I couldn't resist. I could come give you a hand but I am kind of busy this weekend.
Just back up take a deep breath and look things over it isn't rocket science. get all your piecesmake sure you got them clean them up real good and start over putting it back together. You can do it just take your time and don't get discouraged.

Sorry bout the nasty install experiance...I may be heading out on an impromptu motorcycle journey tomorrow with no particular direction to go. If I do take off, I'll let you know cause I can make about 900 miles a day when I really get 'er done. Anyway, if I can help, I surely will

I feel your pain, but I couldnt resist laughing at the post. There's nothing in this world like the love between two brothers.

Don't feel too bad though... When I instaled my gov spring, I rounded off 3 of the 4 allen head bolts. I wish I could of had a little brother to blame it on, but it was my own fault. I thought for sure I was done for, but you just have to take a deep breath and look at the situation. I went to the auto parts store, bought an easy out, grinded it down to size and removed the rounded off bolts.

Best of luck to you and your problem. Just relax and take your time putting it back together. Getting frustrated only makes it worse. Dont ask me how I know.

Speaking of frustration, I was doing a little cussing at my dad's 05 today trying to get the silencer ring out. Also, careful with the little brother comments... I have the experience of being a "gopher this", "hold that", little brother myself. Thats the only way I gained enough courage to be able to mess with my truck. And yeah, I dropped a few things, forgot how things go together... wait... I still do

Normally I too get frustrated with alot of things but when it comes to my truck I take the utmost care in everything I do and rarely ever lose it. Actually, my truck is one of the few things that actually calms me down, be it behind the wheel or under the hood. Just take it easy and pace yourself. You could even take timed breaks which will help your senerio.

Best of luck my fellow CTD brother and may the force be with you

I'm not sure what springs you're talking about.. can ya get a pic or two of the awol springs or broken ones? Someone might have a core or spare pump with parts you could borrow/have.

The broken one is the first spring under the 8mm allen screw on the throttle lever and the one missing is the spring on the throttle linkage that connects to the front of the engine[IMG][IMG]Governor_Spring_04-t[IMG][/IMG]
