I don't know how the lockup for the converter could be done. Our trucks don't have the lockup converters.

I know driving the new stuff you can feel the converter lock up. I don't have a newer manual to see what parameters need to be met for the converter to lock up (as in speed, throttle position, etc) to see if it could be triggered using some existing circuit in the first gens

Baisicaly you would need a processor and associated parts from the modle year of the trans.
Converter lock up is dictated by the processor based on input from other sensors, ie. speed sensor,Engine temp, trans temp, throtle position, brake switch, etc . It is possible to just use a manual (on/off) switch to perform the similar function but you have to remember to turn it off when conditions dictate(brakeing, climbing hills, ect). With the use of relays you can make a processor that can controll the breaking function and temp controll issuesbut it will require space. If interested pm me and we can go over the details
