1st gen towing mirrors
1st gen towing mirrors
I am having a very hard time finding longer mirrors for my truck, being that i have power mirrors, any aftermarket mirror leaves a huge hole in the door. Any opinions to work in the factory location/with the factory mirrors, etc
I have power mirrors too. I bought one slide-on mirror from Camping World and it works fine. I put it on the driver's side and have no problems when I'm towing my 30ft. toy-hauler.
For what it's worth.....

Can you tell me the exact style one you have? I went to thier website and see the choices. Thanks
I went to the Camping World webpage and from what I could tell, the link below is the same type slide-on mirror I use.
When I got mine, I made the mistake of putting the strip of foam-tape on the mirror housing. Bad move. Couldn't get it on the truck's mirror. There is a little plastic hook and nut piece that hooks onto the truck's mirror arm to secure it. No tape. First Gen Dodge is not listed for the mirror below but it looks just like mine, Good Luck!

I went looking on Ebay and found the exact same mirrors I use. The link below should get you there. Again, good luck

I once saw a screw on extension for the horizontal mirror "pillar" that had a set screw to lengthen or shorten the mirror, but I think you would have to lengthen the wire harness.
I used the slip-on towing mirrors with hook attachment method and they work.. kind of, at least at lower speeds, but due to increased surface area, they buffeted and were blurred at highway speeds.

That's what I have and they work great assuming that you don't have a cracked mirror bracket like I do. Add the extra wind resistance and it moves too much to see anything. Another thing to fix one of these days......
Well I have searched high and low and have not found anyone that has gone outside the box and mounted a nice newer set of towing mirrors..
I honestly cannot stand the chrome stock mirrors my truck has..
So I figured hell I will put a new style mirror on my Truck
I have a '92 and I am gonna graph on a set of '02
Here are the pics I took when I opened up the box I just got with my new mirrors.
Here is front shot closed

Front shot open for towing

Back shot open for towing

Of course we will all have to wait to see what they look like when done..(keeping fingers crossed it works out)
