1st gen Line-X any body have it?
I really love the Line-X bed liners, I want to get it in the bed and maybe as rock guard/undercoating for the lower regions, any body running Line-X??
I'm not 100% sure but I believe mine is rhino lined. PO had it done. This is my first experience with the spray in liners. I will never own a truck without one. I love the stuff. I have had the truck for almost 2 years and its holding up great. And I have alot of junk back there. Mine is over the rails and matches the body color.
Line-X is the edit...A friend of mine is the dealer here in town and did a nice job on my '93. I'm thinkin I might have the rockers done from the trim down after I get her painted. I've also had the RHINO product on previous rigs, but personally I like the LINE-X. The rhino seemed to oxidize quick and peel with day to day use.
It was in mine when I got it. It isn't indestructable but it puts up with a lot. I did manage to nick mine with a sharp shovel, spooning out a load of gravel. Whai I like the best is the non skid quality.
Boatnik, sounds like you have rhino linings.
Dieselcarpenter- here are the main differences
Rhino- Softer compound which gives the anti skid quality.
Line-x- Harder but does not have the same anti skid.
BOTH will oxidize over time, and if either product peels it means that the person installing it did it wrong! Rhino does have a product called "rhino shine" that you rub on like a wax to make it look like it was shot the day before, however it does reduce the anti-skid like 10-15%.
I had me entire truck shot with rhino... inside and out (I used to work for a dealer and got a good deal) When they shot it they also shot the exterior with a new product they were trying, kinda like "rhino shine" that you shoot with a paint gun, it's a polyurethane paint (just like the liner) and I have washed it once in well over a year and it shines like the day I picked it up. It would be something to condsider on the rockers but not in the bed.
All that being said, what do you use the truck for? Line-X will hold up to the shovel blows better, but stuff will slide around. Rhino will keep things from moving around but you can definately get through it with a sharp shovel or pick. I've got a rhino liner that's been in the truck (I believe) over 10 year, It's still in great shape, It's not quite as rubbery as when it was new, but 10 years of sunlight and abuse is bound to do something. Rhino is also gas/diesel/solvent resistant. I'm not sure that Line-X is, but I would think so.
Sorry it's long. I did shoot for a rhino shop so I can tell you more about the process for putting it on, if you go that route, you can make sure they do it right.

I am. Check out my photo gallery for some shots of it. The area below the trim is line-x'd right along with the bed, toolbox and headache rack.
Just in my opinion its best to get it sprayed on thick. If its to thin it can start to flake off.
A pressure washer and maybe even a good scrub brush is all I need. and after I wash the whole truck, if I feel the need to "pretty up" my rig, Ill take some tire or dash armor-all and spray the line-x'd panels to give them a nice bold color.
