1st Gen Donor Trucks ?

Hi Everybody; Any reason 1st gen dodge airport trucks wouldn't be great donor cummins drivetrains ? I recently ran onto some 1989 and 1990 aircraft towtrucks with about 2,000 hours on them real good condition just waiting to transplant???? CROSSTHREAD

I bet they would work just fine.

I don't know what I'm talking about, (I got no CTD experiance yet) but wanted to stick my 2 cents in anyway.

The rearends would have abnormally high ratio but I bet the engine and tranny would be good candidates.

Myself working in the Aviation field I will tell you that we have tugs that have the cummins 4bt in them and although the engine only makes like 75 HP and 300lb of torque I have seen them pull upwards of 17K pounds and pop wheelies (not at the same time). The rear end is a crazy high ratio, they top out at around 30 mph. Keep in mind that these are not first gens but I would think they are fairly similar.

There is a decent looking Chevy 80's Crew Cab with a 454 fer sale a little north of here. I can't do anything about any of it however.

The ones the Air Force used had 6BT engines just like ours. Everything from the back of the cab forward is the same as the trucks.
