1st gen in a 2001 1500
1st gen in a 2001 1500
Will a 1st gen cummins bolt to a 2001 gasoline automatic trans. I dont think they will but i want to make sure before i waste my time figuring it out the hard way. Thanks.
I am asking this question becuase the trans has been rebuilt with the intention of it being put behind a high horspower gasoline motor, but then the truck got rolled so i want to see if i could use the trans to bolt it to a 1st gen.
Thats only part of the problem. The transmission main case is totally different when compared to the diesel trans. Internals are similar and will interchange, but not the same. The diesel version will have more pinions in the planets, higher clutch count (in stock form when compared to a stock gas trans), and a few other minor differences.
As far as I know there are not adapters to use a gas dodge trans behind a cummins, really no reason for 1 when you have diesel versions available.

The torque of it will ruin the clutches. Get a 47rh.
