1990 D250 727 to NV4500 swap. Wiring speed sensor?
Still finishing up my swap and I'm down to wiring. The reverse was no problem but the speed sensor different story. I have a 3 pin connector on the nv4500 and a 3 pin connector on the old 727. What wires go where? Thanks for all the help in advance.

OK so what you need to do now is remove the VSS sensor. Then find yourself a speedo adapter from any mopar 727/A518.
Like one of these...
Then you need to figure out what gear you want to run.
Once you have that in the hole you need to get a VSS for a 91-93 Mopar. They are all pretty much the same, Ram, Dakota, Van etc. If it looks like this, it should work.
Then plug in your speedo wiring and see what your speedo reads as your driving. If it's off then follow these instructions I posted up in a recent thread.

Thrashing, I think we're on two different pages. My sensor is in tail shaft, see picture below, not transfer case. Maybe I way off here but I just want to know where to put the three wires off my old plug, (on 727, circular plug with three pins), on to my new one in my first post, also three pins.

The three pin VSS that is on your 2wd NV4500, will not work with that round connector from your original wiring. That round connector is your reverse light wiring, the two outer wires I believe, and the neutral safety wire, the center wire.
You are trying to hook up wires that will not work together. The information I posted earlier will work on a 2wd NV4500 with a hole for the speedo/VSS. I know this because I had a 2wd NV4500 in my crewcab, when it was a 2wd truck.

As soon as I get back to the shop, tomorrow, I'll take a few pictures. How does my speedo work if it didn't have any wires going to it? I'm really confused. I'm hoping we can figure this out. Thanks for the help.

Don't forget about the gear that goes on the output shaft.

Ok Thrashing, I see what you mean now. I took all guts out of 727 for swap. I'm writing another post right now about voltage fluctuation.. I was wondering if these wires have anything to do with it. Thanks for the help guys.
