Why does this look like this?

Cleaned the top of the block off and it looks like this engine is sleeved, I didnt think the 5.9 was sleeved? I can feel the lines with my fingernail. Im scared that this block has been through the mill. This is a 97 12 valve engine.

They look alright but I guess what scares me is this engine only had 150,000 on it when it was pulled out. Makes me wonder what happened in that 150,000 miles that it needed sleeved.

mine looked like that too, I am pretty sure I compared it too the headgasket and it matched the metal sealing ring imbedded in the gasket.

I don't have pics, but I can tell you I see 45+ psi with 19deg timing and meth and no leaks yet, I check weekly knock on wood

Did the headgasket have a metal fire ring? I'm thinking it is just from the headgasket being compressed around there for 150,000miles. From what I understand the sleeves they would use to repair a 5.9 block you wouldn't get that ring like that. The repair sleeves are very thin.

Looks to me like normal wear from the head gasket. I've never had a CTD apart but Lots of the heads/blocks I pulled on Gassers looked like that. Just have the block deck resurfaced and put it back together with out worrying.

Ok so the firering dont wear the top out but the rest of the gasket does? Because the rings around each cylinder are taller then the rest of the deck.
