10 WT Non Detergent, 10w30 dino, semi-synthetic, & full synthetic, SAE 30, 0W30. There's several others that I don't remember off the top of my head.

I haven't tried it, but have read several times on here that synthetic doesn't burn nearly as well as conventional oil and tends to smoke a lot.

I thought that's what I'd heard as well. Maybe I'll just switch the old lawnmower over to synthetic...

Gonna be down at the shop tomorrow welding up my exhaust and finishing up my trailer hitch. Think I'll dump a few quarts in and see how it goes.

I wouldn't use ATF or gear oil, or anything synthetic. Not sure about hydraulic oil. If I don't have any WMO on hand, many times I've just bought two or three quarts of 5w30 and used that. If what you have is 60 quarts of motor oil, just different weights, then that ought to be just fine.

ATF will not hurt your engine one bit. id rather run that than motor oil. a buddy of mine runs his 7.3 on pure atf and atf only. he says its a bit sluggish when it gets cold outside.....wonder why...hahahaha

its highly unlikely a non commercial vehicle wud get pulled over and tested for fuel. Ohio DOT is one of the worst (****) in the country IMHO (used to live there) second only to Virginia

although it might not hurt the engine internal parts I would not run through an injector pump or injectors. it you had any real knowledge of whats in ATF with its friction modifiers neither would you

I am afraid what I don't know will hurt me.

I am not sure what the friction modifiers in ATF will do to my engine.

most won't tell you what all is in the makeup as it is proprietary but here is a few MSDS links. look at the fire warnings. that should tell you something.

http://www.royalmfg.com/MSDS/automot...hetic_msds.pdf

http://www.docs.citgo.com/msds_pi/633140001.pdf.

plus ask Don M at F1 injection what he has found from running this stuff. it is NOT a fuel it is a VERY specialized lubricant

Good point. PCB's were banned back in 1979, but some PCB transformers are still around. Make sure the oil is non-PCB and mineral oil based before using.

I run about 10% WMO. I use an old pool pump to push it through a 10 micron filter. The truck's stock fuel filter is 15 microns.

What are you getting at about the fire warning? I think I missed something...

http://www.terryselectric.com/pdf/de...II-chevron.pdf

page 3 section 5

page 2 section 5

page 3 section 5

it puts out some nasty stuff when burnt so just more reason NOT to use it plus not knowing just what is in the additive package for friction modifiers.
