Mine does the same thing. My buddies w/91's don't smoke, as you noted. Biggest difference IMHO is the injection pump. 1rst gen used VE rotary pump which has cold start timing advance (variable timed pump). 94-98's use p7100 inline fixed timing pump, more prone to smoke under certain circumstances. Mine smokes tons when cold, especially coasting downhill. Let the engine warm under load for a few minutes (keep rpms lower), usually clears up much faster. I usually idle mine w/defroster on for few minutes to speed warmup time. Seems to help some. Retarded timing can also cause same problem. Have found that diesel additives (especially anti-gel when cold) reduces smoke. Biggest thing is not to get on throttle hard when cold. After engine warms a bit and fuel heats as recirculated through tank, gradually bring up rpm/power.<br>just my .02...<br>Regards,<br>-Scott
