Getting to the Cam Plate.

I have been thinking about sliding my stock plate forward. I took a look at the AFC housing... focusing on getting that round bolt head out of there.
The rounded bolt head (I believe its called a knock-off bolt?) is rather difficult to get to.
It is under the injection lines and in a corner.

I was wondering if any of you have any tricks to getting that bolt out of there?

What methods have you used?
Tips?
Tricks?

Photos would also be nice...

Thanks
Rich.

Re:Getting to the Cam Plate.

CMNS PWR used a homemade tool that Shovelhead made to cut a flathead screwdriver notch in the top of my break off screw.

Since then I've had it out several times with a screwdriver. Would like to replace all of them with Allen heads though [undecided]

This is how to get at the plate...everything worked for me doing it this way...the break off screw can be a pain if you dont get it to move the first time using the torx bit and a hand impact tool

http://www.tstproducts.com/power_install.html

Re:Getting to the Cam Plate.

I've heard of using a really small chisel, but on my budget I used an old screwdriver. I made a screw slot in the head of the bolt. When I thought it was close enuf I tapped on the top of a good screwdriver while trying to back out the screw. While my slot was off center it still came out. I still have it in, but tomorrow I gotta go to NAPA and they have the allen head screws to fit it. Then I might post again with the size they are if that helps.

Ok..
That is kind of how I plan to do this as well. I figure I put a slot across the head of the bolt, then unscrew it.

However, on my truck, there are two injection lines (Steel tubes) that run very close to the bolt head. I dont know what to use to make that slot.
Perhaps a chisel might work.
I am going to try to get at it this weekend.

Thanks for the info!

Rich

OK I got the bolts(screws). The short ones (right side)are 6mm/1.00 thread pitch/20mm long. The long ones (left side for shutoff sol. bracket)are the same except 25mm long. It looks cool having the allen heads on there.
