What is the difference between the 47RE and the 47RH transmission?
I have the 47RH with a limited slip diff (according to spec plate.)
Thanks!

The one that came with the truck. The RE tranny needs a computer to help it operate. The RH just uses hydraulic pressures to operate. If you are thinking of upgrading call Dave at Goerends ( www.gbtransmissions.com ) and he will give you geat advise.

Great!! Thanks, but I was hoping someone would tell me that the stock tranny would be sufficient to do the job!!
I'm of the opinion that if it ain't broke....add more to it to see it can take it!!!
I'm having a deep pan and temp gauge put on soon. The truck has 122K on it and the tranny seems to work just fine, but I haven't towed as much on it as I am about to.

hey Rambob...u have a 47 RH like me just so ya know...i havent had any trouble with the tranny either...and i got double ur miles...my opinions on the tranny are that its designed to live in conditions about 600 to 800 rpms higher on average...its why alot of people add the gsk's and like em...i also noticed that it likes life above 1600rpms no matter what especially locked up...also i noticed that firm throttle is better than very light throttle...the lock up clutch is the only thing that worries me on the trannies ...its a small surface...nothing like a real manual clutch and people treat it like one though and mash the throttle the moment they're locked up.....once locked i really ease into any acceleration and never mash it...worked so far....but i am saving for some sort of triple disk setup with higher pressures so i can lay into her as soon as im locked
for all its worth i think with stock power and UNTIL ur locked u can mash it all u want and the tranny responds well...just watch ur fluid ...but once locked up i really ease up

Thanks Mr T!!
I operate mine the same way...never really was a "masher" and like to ease into everything
I'll be towing with her soon (today is the first time with the 5er!) and I just needed to be reassured that she was going to hold up to the task.
Thanks again for your input.

Thanks infidel (great handle, btw!) !!
If it's holding up to those kinds of applications, I'm guessing it'll be OK for pulling my 5er!! I'm adding a deep pan and trans temp gauge this week.
thanks again!
