ET/trap difference - auto vs. stick

Having trouble deciding six-speed vs. 48RE. I'll be towing 10k lbs a dozen or so times a year, and the rest of the time, the truck will be my daily driver. The truck will be receiving a few mild mods initially, and eventually twins for a few pulling comps . I've always preferred driving a stick, and like the strength of the 5600, but want to first see how much faster the auto will really be. Thanks!
Chris

Re:ET/trap difference - auto vs. stick

I loose a second or so (E/T) to a slushbox with comparable power (I have a 6-speed) , at launch is where they have the biggest advantage, I loose .6 (give or take) in 60' to them, that is the ONLY thing the autos have on the manual. If you going to tow, and sled-pull, and enjoy shifting for yourself, forget the auto.

Later, Rob

The auto - - all depends on how much weight and how you take care of it.

Re:ET/trap difference - auto vs. stick

I have a blast racing with a stick. I'm sure an auto is .7 to 1 sec faster, but it has to get boring ;D

Re:ET/trap difference - auto vs. stick

If I were choosing between a 5600 (6 speed) and an auto, I would take the auto. The 6 speed is hard to row threw the gears. It is no where near as fast as the nv4500. If I were choosing between a nv4500(5 speed) and an auto, well that IS a hard choice.
