Question What does it do?

Ok, I have read and read about the fuel plate on my truck. I have the stock plate now. What does this plate do and exactly how does it work? Will sliding it foward now be too much for my stockish tranny? ( the guy I bought it from said it was rebuilt, but he was kinda scratchy on the details) I have been wanting to slide it or get another one, but I am afraid of messing up my tranny, and I really can't afford a new one. My truck does not have any mods so to speak. I just didnt understand how the fuel plate worked and stuff.

Simply said the plate sets maximum fuel delivery versus RPM. Think of it as a high rpm stop that changes with rpm.

But that still doesn't answer my question....does the fuel go around that or what?
Which # will my stock 95 auto hold?

the throttle lever arm rides on it. the farther the lever arm moves forward, the more fuel is delivered.

Which # will your stock tranny hold? Well, if you are easy on it, it will hold about any of them. If you try to use all the available power, you might get by sliding your stock plate forward some. You might as well start saving for a new tranny that will hold all you can give it. The prices range from about $2500 up to $4500. Go to the "links" page and look up the phone numbers and spend some time on the phone. My tranny was at the lower end of the pricing and is guaranteed to hold as much as I can give it. My only problem is lack of funds to give it more.

Well I like to drive fast and have smoke. haha. I do pull gravity wagons with it in the fall and some in the summer. But other than that, i dont pull all that much. So just sliding it foward wont mess my tranny? I like to mess around, so im not really easy on it.

I personaly would strongly suggest that you go to www.gbtransmissions.com and send Dave an e-mail as to what your intentins are. He is very knowlegable and willing to share his knowlege. Once you see his site you will see a lot more as to what goes into building a tranny that works.

You should be perfectly fine sliding the stock plate. My tranny is stock with what i have(in signature.Plate is made like a #5), except for the transgo shift kit. It really helped my truck shift, and the Torque Converter holds much better(still slips just a little). Got the shift kit for $50 on Ebay. I wouldnt be too worried about my tranny if i were you with just a smaller powr incfrease, but if you go for much, youll need something. If i were you, i would slide the stock plate full forward(use TST's instructions in the link except you obviously wont be replacing the plate) along with the SFC housing, and adjust the starwheel all the way towards the motor. Youll get some smoke, and more power like that for free. If i were you i would get EGT, and boost gauges, though i dont think you absoulutley have t have them judging by how my buddies 95 5 speed was with the stock plate full forward. Good luck

Question: what does full-forward stock plate do to the fuel economy?

No it doesent come with the lockup switch. You can buy a $3 toggle switch, and some wire, and do a search on TST's website for the wiring scnematic. Its the one i used. I think its the Pin 54 wire that you tap into on the PCM(orange, and black i think), and run a wireto the switch from that, and then to a ground so that it grounds the wire out when you hit the switch, which then locks the converter. If you have gauges, then you know how to monitor EGT;s. Slide that baby full forward, and youll be fine with EGT's i imagine. Just kepp a little eye on them, and you can tell. Ill look tomorrow for a transgo for sale on Ebay, but i cant tonight.
