I would just go ahead and adjust the valves. That way you know what was done. Before you do check the gaskets on the valve covers. If they are black in color you probably should go to Cummins and pick up the upgraded gaskets. The upgrades are grey. They are about $28 for all six around here. If you already have the grey ones on the valves have probably been adjusted.
Tom

Srigs,
The dealer told me to adjust them at 118,000 miles. I got 101,00 now and he said they don't need adjustment. They want $300. to do the job.

HAROLDS KDP JIGS
harold has basic kdp jigs which include the jig, bushings, drilbits, 3 setscrews, all for 29.95 s&h included

he has the deluxe jig kit for 69.95 inclding s@h which has the jig, bushings, bits, tap, depth stop,t handle racheting wrench, t handle allan wrench, punch, 10 set screws, red locktite, detailed instructions, air pressure regulator devicre to presureize engine w/ air to keep shavings from entering engine when ya drill and tap.basicly everythin ya need to do a kdp fix cept for the fan hub wrench, drill, air comprsr, and a guy to do the job.[proly 4getin sumthin here] also 10 stickers to apply underhood area to let future owner of rigs ya fix know they have no need to worry bout the kdp causing problem cuz ya did the fix on it.
the advntage to harolds jig is if the pin has sliped part way out,the angle of the hole allows ya to tap the pin back into place. the 1st gen jig and 2nd gen jig are specific for their applications to asure no slop and a direct hit of the setscrew against the owelpin. the 2nd gen jig does the 12v and 24v. for those who dont know 89s thru 99s are in need of the kdp fix. the 8.3 also has this problem acording to a tdr thread
harolds email is rvhvnfn@juno.com ph is 208 459-7849. harold is in his rvhvnfn for a few days so if he dont get back to ya till next week that is why

http://www.nwbombers.com/board/ikonb...ST;f=11;t=2874

as to the valve adjust, harold, a club member does em on a 12v for 25 bucks.[during the weeek in his shop][ no charge at bomb parties]. too bad ya aint in idaho but im sure a member in your area can line ya up. check events sec for upcoming bomb parties in u area
valve adj is recomended every 30k on 12v, 100k on 24v
