Turbo bark??

This symptom just started. If I nail it in 4th or 5th gear, then let up quickly, a quick, muffled noise comes from the air cleaner area. It is not loud, but it is there, and it was not there last week. Is it turbo bark? What causes it and how would I fix it? Thanks.

About the only way to avoid bark is to not let up fully on the accelerator when at boost.

No idea way it would suddenly appear.

So the turbo bark is not necessarily a bad thing in that it can do damage?
Another strange symptom that my truck manages to develop. I swear, I am convinced that my truck is some dead relative that has come back to haunt me.

Avoid doing that, bad news for a turbo and YES it will damage it.

Thanks for the responses. I did a search, using DTR archives (thanks again DTR) and found a lot of good information, as to why and how to deal with it.

I can swear mine showed up one day as well.

Don't worry about it and do what Bill said.

Turbo bark can be caused by a change in weather. Cool damp weather can bring it on more. You might notice your boost goes up faster too. The air is more dense, tends to build boost faster. My S300 will bark between gears, low RPM accells, well anytime you are a little too aggressive with fuel..
