I just recently bought a 1998 12v 4x4 auto, and the transmission has the following issue:

The truck shifted fine yesterday, no shudder, nothing. Today, the truck will upshift very rapidly. It will be in Overdrive before i get to 30 mph. Then, upon slowing down, it seems that the trans does not want to downshift and will shudder as it tries to stay in gear on the deceleration. After it starts to shudder, if i put it into neutral it stops shuddering. Placing it back in gear and it will start in 1st again.

The trans upshifts quick enough that it bogs the engine and has a similar shuddering feel.

Any ideas? I checked the fluid, it is very clean and at the correct level. I looked around the base of the trans for a missing connector or line, but everything seems to be connected.

tv cable adjustment. adjust bands as well if needed....good luck you'll be fine...if u take it to a mechanic that knows these trannies then one or two hours of labour should fix it all for ya...dont take it to a geek that fiddles with neon's all day or he'll try and push the most expensive combo on u
