Yep, different Torque Converter though, more stall in the V10.

Different bell-housing and bolt pattern, specific to the Cummins adaptor casting - VX starters mount below the block pan-rail - Cummins starters mount above the pan-rail - etc, etc...............

Would'nt the internal gearing be different? The Cummins turns up to 2500 on most trucks... The V10 can prolly turn 4-5000... I don't see how the gearing can be the same... I can do 70 at 2000 rpm... How fast would the V10 be going if it was turning high rpm's in OD?? ... dangerously fast... Unless I am missing something... I think the internals have to be different

Sure about that?

Every thing I have ever seen or heard has them the same transmission, just different TQ, including from people who have done the V10 to diesel swap.

The governor is different also in the diesel tranny for example the weight has a brass color to it where the gasser one looks silver and is lighter in weight that is why it shifts at a higher RPM than the diesel.

They are the same transmission. I once bought one for a truck and then had it rebuild by Goerends, it is same except for converter

The starter bulge in the 48RE bellhousing that fits the Cummins adaptor is just above the crank centerline on the driver's-side - the machined recess for the manual-cranking gear is on the passenger-side above the crank centerline, and which side has no starter bulge above or below the crank centerline for a V8 starter, which would attach to the block on the bottom surface of the belhousing flange, which starter would be mounted below the pan rail\crank centerline - this leads me to believe the transmissions are similar only internally, including the bolt-on overdrive section and the 13" torque convertor housing

Differential gearing, TCC stall speed, and PCM control are differences in operating ranges - the 48RE has an electronic governor
