tranny swap

tranny swap

im thinking about swapping out my auto in my 98 24v for a 5 speed or 6 speed. if anyone has done this what did it set you back?

Trade your truck! The cost is very high, and around $6,800 if you do it yourself. A lot more if a shop does the work. Nothing ever fits like it should, and then you have to cut holes in the cab and floor to get everything in place, it just is not worth the work. Been there and done that!

Better yet, go to DTT or Goerend Brothers and get a bulletproof automatic and converter. Their good ones are every bit as good, and maybe even better, than a 5 or 6 speed for most people. The cost will be half that of a conversion, and your truck will still have a resale value. A chopped truck has no resale value at all.
