tranny problems

Just installed the SBC DD clutch and as of today my truck is makeing a loud tapping sound in all gears EX 4TH. when at idle the truck makes the tapping sound but its kind of hit and miss. When in gear it gets faster the faster the engine/road speed. with the clutch pressed in it stops even when rolling but as soon as it goes back in gear and the clutch is depressed it starts up again and louder when down shifting. tranny shifts the same and the truck doies not jerl or shudder. drives like normal EX for the knocking sound comming from the front of the trannt. I also wanted to say i got the bigger inputshaft with the clutch.

Any Ideas?

Please

Thanks

Get back with SouthBend and explain the problem. It sounds either like a loose pilot bearing, or the end play on the transmission was not set up properly when it was reassembled with the 1 3/8 input shaft.

I got the tranny out lastnight and found that the bigger imputshaft that I installed has some flaws or is the wrong one for my tranny. The bottom gear in the front of the trannywhich is about 1.5" thick or close to that has about 1/2" of the back side of it missing where the splines did not line up right or something. I mean there is nothing left after half way through the gear and the gear on the imputshaft has markings where it was makeing contact with the tooth and not the vally. lol of the gear I don't know what happend because the imput shaft turned freely when I put it in

I d be willing to bet your endplay wasnt right when the input shaft was put in. Ive seen it happen before on someone elses truck. I think a new countershaft is about $150 from blumenthals.
