Torque Plate Question
Well I just got done movin the torque plate all the way up on a '95 and the dangdest thing happened.... nothin' at all. The truck just does not run any different at all. turned the smoke wheel up about 20 clicks and more smoke and still strong, but I've done the same mod on my '95 and a '96 and it really made a huge difference in power. She won't go over 2800 rpm, but I don't know if she did before I moved the plate. Any ideas of what could be the problem. The plate is in straight and I just don't understand why she isn't gettin more fuel/power from a plate moved all the way forward. Still makin the same amount of boost (25-30), boost lines look okay. What could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would make a check of the arm that contacts the bottom of your fuel plate and make sure that it is not bent or out of alignment. Also, have you ever changed the overflow valve on the P-7100 Pump?? It is the small valve that is located on the very end of the pump near the top and close to the radiator.
They are known to go bad (I have replaced several) and will cause power problems.

I didn't get much of a difference until I started grinding the plate, the #100 makes smoke. A GSK really wakes them up too.
You may also want to get the timing checked.

Sliding any plate all the way forward greatly increases the chances that the gov arm is out of adjustment.

Hey thanks a lot guys... I'm thinkin it might be a gov arm problem cause she kinda spots in and out past 2200 rpm. Truck's got over 215k on it so if it needs adjustment that wouldn't be suprising. Any opinions on different governer springs while i got it torn apart this time?

You asked about governor springs and I would highly recommend the 4K's but only AFTER you make sure your P-Pump is checked out and everything is alright.
