Throttle linkeage
Throttle linkeage
Okay this is kind of a long story. I will start with a question and then finish with my problems..
Q: Do any of you have any problems getting above 75mph?
1994 110,000 miles..BHAF, is the only thing done to truck as of my knowledge
Problems:
The metal rod linkage had been tampered with, and was strapped on when I got the truck...The plastic out of the heims had been melted, from what appears. The previous owners had cut and shorten the rod and bent the back butterfly (or whatever the back linkages is called). Okay I broke the cable on the way home from work in the cab at the pedal. I zip tied the cable back to the pedal...And holy crap my truck ran so much stronger. I could get to 100MPH and the take off was so much better. Okay this tells me I had a stretched cable..So I ordered new cable and decided to fix the metal rod linkage as well. The new rod was longer than the old broken, strapped up rod, and cut and shorten rod and it would not fit back on with the back butterfly bent for the old rod, so I straighten it out and put on the new rod and new cable...Now my truck runs like a turd and I see no way how to adjust this, other than cutting and shortening the new rod and bending the back butterfly to the way the previous owner had done. The truck will not turn anymore than 2250 on the highway and 75 to 78 MPH....Help guys I'm new to this stuff and I have tried the search stuff and can not find any threads that would help...Anyone else had these problems?
Thanks

PS anyone know any good cummins mechanic guys in this area to do some mods?

Thanks again, I had to cut on the metal rod 1/2", but now the truck will run past 2150RPM....
I have another question if you don't mind....On two occasions I've went to start my trunk and it would not start, just turn over....GO back out to the truck couple mintues later and it will fire up like it is supposed too?? Is this the fuel shut off?

Have a look at this link that was written up for safety recall on 97-98. Should apply to all 2nd gen 7100 pumps from what I see. Diagram above came from this excellent site. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/B15.htm

Do you have one of those nice diagrams of the solenoid on the firewall, so that I know what I'm looking for? I will also check that blue wire, just 2 months ago all new cables where installed, and batteries, but I know that doesn't mean the blue wire couldn't have corrision in it further down...Thank you again sir, your are most helpful
