thermostat temp- why not 215 *?

thermostat temp- why not 215 *?
Over in the Ford forums there was a concensus that the PSD ran better with a thermostat that was of higher temp than factory. The cooler stat (195*) was OEM to conform to off the line regulations. Anyway, has there been any palaver about a hotter stat being good for our CTD? The whole forward motion with the PSD was the assertion/fact that a diesel is most efficent at 215* or so, but is not at its cleanest. (that would be 195*)
My truck obviously has room to spare in its cooling capacity. And when I ran my PSD at the hotter temp there was never an issue of higher temps as far as pulling under hot ambient temps or of over taxing the system. As a matter of fact, the difference in how hot the engine felt was slight. It never was really "hot" even with the 215* stat.

mine will run up to that after sitting for a few hours and then start and drive, but only once. after that it stays around 200*.it seems that my mileage has increased a little...not any power differance.
