TC lockup switch problem?

I wired in a double throw double pole switch today, so I can lockup oe keep the TC unlocked. I cut the orange/black wire and attached each end to the end terminals. And the a ground to the center terminal. The switch has a total of six terminals on back. I also removed the relay and put a jumper wire in. When driving it I can get the TC to lockup by flipping the switch but when I leave the switch in the off position the T will not lock up normally. Previously I had a lockup switch in, but removed it for some reason. I've also had a potentiometer install for about five years.

Any help is appreciated.

Bob

To get a TC to lock it is really being grounded in that circuit . I installed mine and did not cut the wire going to the TC so the TC would work as the factor intended. If you wired yours to a switch and cut the wire the TC can`t communicate with the trans control module.

I wired it like this before and it would work like this with the wire cut. TC wire hooked to end (ON) switch, PCM end or wire hooked to other end (ON)of switch and middle (OFF) of switch. And you could either lock TC up, Normal or keep TC unlocked. I'm wondering if with the 6 terminals I'm hooked to the wrong one's and need to be on the other 3 terminals or since I have a potentiometer that it may not work with it.

I first had a lighted switch for my TC lock. The truck would shift locked all the time. I had to replace the switch for one that would not feed power back to the TC

I disconnected the switch, so I could use the truck today. I think I have a regular ON/OFF switch and think I will try that to see if it will lock up normally or if I can lock it up. Just so I ca eliminated the new switch.

Got it figured out using. Had to figure out how a DP/DT switch worked.

McMopar,

Looked at yours and I've been thinking about using LED's. Other than that mine's wired the same. I'll have to get some LED's and put them in.

Thanks,
Bob

McMopar,

Did you have any problem with power feeding through the LED's. Read somewhere that could be a problem without using relays.

I had a lighted switch; used to be lit when TC was in the locked position . Problem was with the switch in the off position (not lit) the TC would stay locked. That made all the shifts happen with the TC be locked. I found power going to the light was feeding back to the TC. So I disconnected the power wire for the light and The switch works great . In OD lock with the switch I can slow the truck down on a grade . I can see my speed drop when I`am locked in OD with my fiver going down the road .Had a near disaster on after non lol. Just put on new rubber all 4 and I`am running along in OD of with my switch locking the TC. Had a car pull out in front of me at so I nails the breaks and stalled my truck. I had no steering and not much breaks . Took me a few seconds till I could switch off my TC lock switch slide the trans into neutral and restart the truck.I wore to flat spots on my new tires and got my heart pumping lol.

Yes locked using a switch means the switch controls the TC for lock up when used.

On my second gen switch off in OD my TC don`t lock under 45 mph .The tc locking is controlled by the tps and speed .
Switch used my truck will lock in all the gears.1,2,3,od

Numidian,

Yes that's the way the switch works.
