taking too long to shift

hey guys
my 94 shifts fine during normal driving & pulling, but when I get on it or race a ricer punk, it takes way too long before it shifts; is this normal? I was thinking of adjusting the TV cable, but didn't want to mess up the normal driving. Any suggestions?

Lower line pressure and readjust tv cable? I have the same issue right now but mine won't shift at all from second to third. Do you have any VB mods or shift kit?

Well, Bill recommended 72psi at idle(750rpm) in gear to me for line pressure if that helps. It's the middle port on the pass side of the trans. To adjust it you have to drop the pan and turn the pressure regulator screw clockwise to lower the pressure. You have to grind down a 3/16" Allen so that the short side is short enough to fit in between the screw and trans case.

Other than that adjustment, it's going to be replacing valves and springs in the VB. I would try to adjust the TV cable first and see how you like it. It can always be put back easily.

I'm waiting right now for them to send me a weaker 2-3 shift spring and shorter Throttle Valve so I can try. My 1-2 shift is almost perfect at 3000rpm, but still a hair late also and my 2-3 shift will rev to 3200 and just stay there until I let off some, but lowering the line pressure didn't help me. Adjusting my TV cable gets the 1-2 shift perfect but the 2-3 goes to 2400. There's no in between 3200 and 2400 for me. I'm really thinking hard about trying a 4k governor spring kit to make it shift or calling another transmission company.
