How long is too long Goosenek
I am looking for right around a 40 ft goose neck flat car hauler type trailer. Is only having 2 axles gonna create some sway problems? I would say 3 will be better, just wondering where to draw the line with 2
Thanks

Two 7k axles will be fine if you are just hauling cars or lighter vehicles, If you are hauling trucks or tractors, better got to two 10k duals, or three 7k singles. If you are hauling lighter stuff I'd recomend a low profile type in about a 36'-38' with two 7k axles. The lower profile type trailers are lighter and easier to pull than a big deck over style trailer like I have in my gallery. Also, with your old truck(like I have) your GVW is probably only 10k, so if you get a trailer with two 7k axles it'll be a 14k GVW so your combined gross weight will be under 26k and you won't have to worry about all the extra reg's, if you go three axle, or tandem 10k duals you'll be over 26k. I am over 26k and don't follow all the extra rules, but I am a rebel and I don't have any problems. It really all depends on what you are hauling. When and if the D.O.T. ever starts hassling me I will get rid of that 48' 21k gvw trailer and go back to a low profile 14k gvw 38' trailer and only haul two instead of three cause then I can get under 26k gross combined weight. Also, I run 14-ply tires even on my three axle trailer, if I were to go to two axles I'd say the 14-ply tires are extra important especially for heavy hauling.

I got a triple 7000# axle 38ft flatbed and let me tell you around town and parking lots behind my extended cab Long bed, this thing is a mother to get around. If you don't have to have that length, GO SHORTER. I can move semi's around in smaller spaces that I can this truck and trailer.

well actually im going with 38' to be exact. its either 38' with 3 axles, or 40' with 2 axles, but 38' is the minimum i can use. Mainly 99% open highway miles, loaded with about 15,000 lbs most times
