Speed Sensor

Can anyone tell me where the speed sensor is on a 98 12 Valve. The only thing I see on the tranny is the wires for the back up lights.

Sure can, it is on the center of the rear end. It also doubles as the ABS sensor for the rear axle.

Is this sensor where the speedometer and cruise control get their signal?

Well I'd imagine the cruise would share the speedometer sensor, if so yes.
