someone replaced my turbo?
so i had my turbo off to finally get to drilling the divider and making the wastegate holes 15/16". when i had it off i noticed the tag on the turbo said wh1c. i was under the impression that a 95 has a hx35?? am i wrong or has this been replaced in the past?
what are the specs on a wh1c then and is it pretty much like a hx35 as far as compressor map and safe continuous boost?
on a side note i cant believe i took so long to do this little mod! truck sounds better up top, runs way better up top, and egts are about 75-100 cooler!
but boost also dropped by 4-5 psi under wot. is this normal due to less drive pressure now or is the wg spring getting overpowered and failing to stay closed now that there is more volume going thru??

Ic. guess u do learn something new everyday. so next question is it good for any upgrades like the 60mm compressor or am I better off saving my cash for a 63/68? Thing is cash is tight n I won't b able to afford the nice turbo til a couple more years. So would the upgrade b worth it? Just looking to cool things down a tad
The turbo upgrades are ok, but not really the best bang for the buck. They can make things cooler, and support a bit more power, but you have some untapped potential in free/cheap mods you can try if discretionary income is tight. I'm assuming your signature shows all your mods, so here goes:
Start with helping out your airflow into the turbo. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/ge...ck-airbox.html
That shows a cool and very cheap way to improve your truck and lowers EGT's.
Consider that approach before a bhaf or other CAI.
Look at opening up your exhaust system some. The stock muffler is not really a restriction, but who knows what else is under the truck clogging the works.

Ya I know n that's what I want but by the time I get a bottom turbo and piping...it will b over 1000 for sure. can't do that yet....n besides a modded top turbo would b better in the long run anyways no?
hey Tate u get ur parts outta Canada somewheres for a good price or order from the states ?

The upgrade that you'll get from a bigger wheel and bigger housing is going to be marginal. The twins would be the best bang for the buck if you can fabricate.
Depends what parts you are talking about. Driveline stuff I have been getting from Peak Diesel in BC, turbos I have bought from Turbo Resource in NM, Forced Inductions in Al, misc. turbo stuff online from ATP turbo.

Of course twins are the way to go
fabbing is not a problem but piping is expensive. Most of my stuff I get from peak diesel but was just wondering if there were other good shops in Canada so I could save some shipping on bigger items.

Piping will only cost a couple hundred bucks, depending what size and where you source it. I bought all mandrel bent 3 and 4" piping for mine from a muffler shop. You could probably buy it cheaper online if you search around.
Buy the prebent pieces. For a typical piping setup, you'll only need four 90 degree bends of whatever size you're using. I used aluminized steel for all of it, and used some scrap steel and a spare oil drain for the primary turbo mount.
"Old one's gettin' weak...."
"More air allows you to lean it out so it'll be better on fuel".... by the time she see's the next fuel bill you can beg for forgiveness...
'Course you could always say "Oh. Guess I was wrong..." Naaaahhh. Scratch that.
