Slipping Clutch

Just bought a 95 3500 4x4 with a 5 speed and 86,000 miles. in 5th gear if you get on it hard it will slip some. not real bad but it does slip. the guy i bought it from claims it was recently replaced. the pump is tweeked up so it makes more power which i am sure compounds the problem. if i need to replace the clutch where can a guy get a fair deal on a good clutch that will hold the power. i plan to put a dump and pull my equipment trailer with a small 350 case or my ford backhoe on it. any ideas? thanks.

southbend makes the best single disc clutches and has great prices on them.

with the southbend clutch are you using the 12 inch or the 13 inch? is the center force clutch any good?

i wouldn't use a centerforce they may be better than stock but you'll go through5 of those before you burn up a southbend. luk also has some good clutches. what do you mean by the pumps tweaked what kind of mods are done and what kind of boost do you hit wide open

Centerjunk ask Dodgeman01 on this board what he thinks of them!

He had a dual friction for a month before it started slipping......they said "TOUGH"

Now we both have SBC Dual Disk's, South Bend makes some of the best aftermarket CTD clutches in our opinions

Unless the power is really turned up, take a look at the LuK ProGold Clutch. It is inexpensive, and holds way better than the OEM package. http://www.dialaclutch.com/DAC-DEMO/dosearch.asp

I've seen some real good luck w/the LUK Pro Gold's, a friend of mine has a 98' 3500 quad cab w/ a #10 370's 3000 rpm gsk 14 cm gated housing & 4 in. exhaust & with the plate slid a good bit forward of stock the Luk is holding strong, that's probably what I'll go with for the $. Would love to have SB but funds prohibit one for now!!!
